In Episode 20, we dive deep into the heartfelt and inspiring story of Courtney, a 28-year-old mother of five young children, all under the age of six! Despite being diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis and told she may never conceive; Courtney went onto an extraordinary and very fertile motherhood journey. With six pregnancies, including one early emotional loss, her five beautiful children, include Reagan 6 (oldest and only boy to their clan) Freya 4, Daisy 3, Lola 2, and Sadie 8 months. In this episode, she shares her deeply personal experiences, from the trauma of her first birth (which comes with a trigger warning) where she ended up in ICU from large blood loss, managing to avoid a hysterectomy by seconds, and Reagan being in NICU for a collapsed lung, both Mum and Bub ended up safe and recovered. She then went onto experience four healing births, beating the medical opinion that it may be life threatening for her to ever birth again. Courtney switched to private care after her first birth, and has absolutely loved having the amazing Dr Tania Widmer at Grace Private for her pregnancy and birth care. We love you Tania! Her last pregnancy was given the difficult and emotional option of termination, where Sadie was diagnosed with trisomy x...Courtney could not consider that as an option, and praised the support and advice of maternal fetal medicine specialist Dr Adriana Olog, also at Grace Private for women. Sadie is now 8 months and thriving! Today, Courtney is on an incredible surrogacy journey (where she breaks down her desire for surrogacy to be in her life journey) and currently in the complex and emotional fertility trenches, hoping to give a friend who has no uterus, a successful transfer and baby very soon!
