26| Jade’s warrior HG experience- sick from weeks pregnant, 120 days of hospitalisation, physical + mental impacts, positive c section, gorgeous alfie, PTSD, guilt of wanting a sibling but lingering hg trauma.
Episode 26 is an insightful, educational, and emotional conversation with Jade’s warrior hypermesis gravidarum (HG) experience during her first pregnancy. Jade talks us through how she was extremely sick from her pregnancy before her period was even due- having to be admitted via ED to the maternity ward at 3 weeks pregnant. Originally it was suspected Jade was having twin girls due to her extreme hg, however it was a single boy in there! This debilating sickness, had Jade spent 120 days in hospital for fluid and medication management, where Jade often could not keep down water, or food..losing 20kgs during her pregnancy. Jade would spend hours on hours each day laying and sleeping in the shower, with physical and mental impacts from her traumatic sickness. She had to take large amounts of time off work, but Dr Adriana Olog at Grace Private, and all the midwives at GC private hospital become her life line- as well as her amazing husband. Jade states she couldn’t have gotten through this dark time without them. She then experienced a positive c section to gorgeous Alfie, who spent 2 weeks in special care. At 18 months she absolutely adores Mum life and her beautiful little boy. However the HG PTSD lingers, also playing out in the form of guilt of wanting another child and sibling for Alfie, but not knowing how dynamically she could go through a second pregnancy like the first. Thank you Jade for spreading awareness on HG, and opening up on your marathon journey- you are again a warrior! Love Patty’s
