59| Tara CMV pregnancy, From Survival to Soul Rising: Tara's Story of Motherhood, Healing and Purpose.
Welcome back to Love Patty
This week we’re joined by the incredible Tara; mum of three, co-founder of Soul Rising Collective women’s retreats, and the woman behind the Gold Coast’s only clothes library.
Tara bravely shares the story of her first pregnancy, where she was diagnosed with CMV and faced the unimaginable — being advised to terminate. She takes us through the emotional rollercoaster of seeking a second opinion, finding hope with a compassionate MFM specialist, and enduring weekly testing, MRIs, and blood work. From being told she wouldn’t be able to breastfeed to planning a C-section, Tara opens up about the fear, uncertainty, and strength it took to keep going.
She also shares how she turned to vlogging as a form of therapy, creating her YouTube channel “CMV Stops With Me,” and the moment everything shifted, when her daughter Frankie was born healthy, with no signs of complications.
Beyond her birth story, Tara speaks candidly about losing herself in motherhood with three little ones close in age, and how slowly reconnecting with joy and fun for herself sparked something bigger. That spark became Soul Rising Collective women's retreats designed for mums to simply arrive, be held, and reconnect with themselves. With Tara’s background in breath work and women’s circles, these retreats are all about rediscovering you.
Clare first met Tara through her clothes library, a beautiful, practical solution to the fast fashion cycle so many of us are stuck in. What started as a simple idea while working in a pool shop has grown into a powerful community resource, helping women borrow outfits, save money, and reduce waste. There’s even a toy library, so your little ones can enjoy something new without the cost or environmental impact.
This is a heartfelt and hope-filled conversation, for anyone navigating a CMV diagnosis, considering VBAC, or simply needing a reminder that you’re allowed to find yourself again in motherhood. Trigger warning: pregnancy loss and stillbirth are discussed in this episode. Thank you for being here and for your ongoing support.
Love Patty xoxo
